Babies and beautification

I stopped by Looker’s Salon & Spa this morning to visit my mom while she was getting her hair done. I know it may seem weird to some people to stop by a beauty salon without an appointment and with no good reason, but I do. When I was little, many of the stylists that now work at Looker’s (including the owner Angelic Gardner) worked at my mom’s shop, Hair Dynamics. In the early 2000s she sold it and we moved to Mobile, Ala. However, ever since we have moved back to Wilson County, Looker’s has served as our mothership of all things spa related.

Looker’s is kind of like Dolly Parton’s shop in the movie “Steel Magnolias” to me. People are always laughing and having a good time, while proving Dolly’s famous saying to be true: “There is no such thing as natural beauty.” (No offense to anyone, we are all wonderfully made by God in my opinion – but there is no shame in exercising our rights to curling irons, hair color, and waxing!) Well, I spotted at least one natural beauty there and that is baby Xylia, whose mother and grandmother work in the salon. She is the cutest thing! Her mother was kind enough to lend me this photo to share with all of you!!

Baby Xylia knows how to work hair accessories!
